/dev/pilot and Evolution

When dealing with USB stuff, I have found the utility usbview to be very helpful.  Go here, http://www.kroah.com/linux-usb/, to get it if your distro does not already have it.

It will show usb devices as they come and go on the bus.  A palm device appears when the sync attempt starts and disappears when it stops sycing or trying to sync.  usbview will show it appear and disappear with all the bus info.
