Where are the infamous man.pages?

What I'm planning on doing is spending some time with the life saver icon. If 
I find that further explanation into something is needed then I'll do [man 
<whatever>]. 
Will that help, or what do you suggest? I'm going to read [man man] right now 
in fact.
