X11 and Nvidia woes

You should have a file called "/var/log/XFree86.0.log".  Attach that 
file to a message and send it to us.  In that way, we should get an 
extremely good indication of what is happening.

PS: Normal users will not have the right to view this file.  You must 
use root.  If you are not sure how to go about this, then just ask.
