debian install trouble

Hello all,
Well I've decided to give debian a go but I've ran
into a little snag.

I used the rescue.bin and root.bin in the woody
current directory to try and install (I had problems
with cardmgr when I tried potato)

I can get the woody modules and kernel to install but
when trying to install the base system it defaults to

Should I be installing
"../dists/woody/main/current/binary-i386/Release" or
"../dists/stable/main/disks-i386/current/base2_2.tgz"

I would prefer to only have the base system and build
from there but I can't change the default directory.
Any suggestions?
