1. Your cable may be bad.
2. You may be using a cross over cable instead of a standard ethernet cable.
3. You may be plugging into an uplink port instead of a standard port.
4. You may be plugging into a port that is shared with another port (often
an uplink port and the port nearest to it are the same port and you cannot
have something in both)

Solution...
If your plugging into an uplink port, use a cross over cable
If you are plugging into a standard port use a standard ethernet cable.

no its not, i figured it wasn't lighting up because it wasn't configured
right and wasn't sending anythign out so it didn't light up, what kind of
solutions could there be to this problem
