If you want to get nitpicky, then there really is only 1 book.  As was
Tolkien's original intent.  It was later broken up into 3 novels.  You
will often find that portions of novels are broken up into "book"
sections but were never intended to be part of a different novel, and it
wouldn't make sense to refer to it as a "book" then.  It's a retarded
nomenclature IMO, and that is why I did not mention it, as it muddies
the water without any real purpose.

BTW, they rendered some of LOTR's effects in Linux!  (just needed say
something to justify this post being on PLUG.. heh.  I'm sure everyone
already knew this).
