This is true you can license your own property under pretty much any terms
you please.

However, most GPL software relies on other GPL software.  Since the GPL is
viral doesn't this mean that if your software is infected by GPL that you
are then restricted from offering anyone else license terms that exclude the
terms of the GPL?
