Is OE at least connecting to the LDAP server? If so you should be able to
increase your log level and see what the query it is sending looks like.
That might at least give you a few clues on what it it is looking for to
retrieve a record.

Here are a couple other pointers about the mapping of attribute values once
you get the entry.
