mkfs.ext 4 only created the partitions under 2 GB in size. The drives are
much larger than that (32/64).
$ sudo mkfs.ext4 /dev/sdc1;sudo mkfs.ext4 /dev/sdd1
$ df -h
/dev/sdc 1.8G 2.7M 1.7G 1%
/media/bmike1/5698cdb1-4579-4dca-8e3b-03786d959bea
/dev/sde 1.7G 2.6M 1.6G 1%
/media/bmike1/9318c4f4-9e81-4fd6-ac5f-223e
(I had unplugged the drives and reattached)
