Subject: 3Com Intellijack software and Virtualbox
Is anyone here on the list familiar with the old 3Com NJ100 Intellijacks? I
have two of them installed in my home. Until recently I have not had the
need to reconfigure them, however I'm looking to implement a VLAN and ran
into an oddity. The 3Com software is installed on Windows, but I run
Windows in Virtualbox as a guest OS. Linux is my primary OS. The nic is
configured to bridge mode using the PCnet as the device type and
promiscuous mode is set to allow all. When I run the 3Com software to
discover the Intellijacks in order to configure them it is unable to locate
them. Both utilities report they are not connected. Can/will this software
work from a VM or does it need to run in a native Windows environment?
