It looks like it got updated in 2021 for PHP 8 support, but it's a "snapshot" release; the latest stable is still from 2011, which is still super old especially with web software.
There are plenty of other newer, better, and maintained webmail software, even if you're looking for something you can just chuck onto a PHP host. Roundcube <https://roundcube.net/>, for instance, is a very capable modern webmail client that just needs to be plopped onto a PHP host, with the latest release being in September, 4 months ago.
