Do I Need to Use a Network Switch / How to Configure

I found a few good 8 port links’s commercial grade switches at a local goodwill (in original packaging complete with power supply. Could be had for about $7. Similar items can be had at Walmart or Best Buy for about $60. Since inventory at any of the local goodwill stores changes rapidly, YMMV on the lookout. The one switch I have found that is data center capable (managed by external port or by app) is the one I am currently using for the house. I just wish it had POE.
