A lot for CentOS 7, but for 8?

So, I’ve noticed a few places have made documentation for centOS 7, but not 8.

Since 8 never had docs made for it, I’m wondering if there would be consequences to using 7, since 8 exists.
For one of the things I’ve tried (phusion passenger and nginx install), install configs and files are different enough to need 7.

Can I assume 7 is still getting security updates?
Would there be any actual consequences to using 7 over 8 anytime in the near future?
