Well, just make sure you're not feeding some beast botnet
<https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2018/11/a-100000-router-botnet-is-feeding-on-a-5-year-old-upnp-bug-in-broadcom-chips/>
with "easy sharing features". Just because they update it doesn't mean the
fix anything. Might want to nmap it and see what sorts of port services it
flaps out to the internet as well, wouldn't be the first time I've found
things like these to have telnet open with root/123456 as a pass. It's
also 2.4ghz only (why!? I'll pay another $5 for a better 5ghz wifi chips,
really), so welcome to slowness on overly-congested/used channels mostly
everywhere with it even 5 feet away.

This seems far more of a pain in the arse with diminishing returns than
putting the usb stick into your laptop or android+otg whatever storage said
gadget would present with various security, feature, or performance
concerns. Just some thoughts - not disagreeing with you, I've been down
this line of thinking, and seems devices haven't improved much from last
time I looked a few years ago to just stick to more convention means.
