That was sorta my point.

I know plenty of older guys that still want to do everything in Perl, won't
learn Ruby or Python, or god forbid Erlang or Scala.

The ability to work is not tied to your age... But your skillset. Want to
work?  Don't use your age as an excuse.  Study up on how to get
certifications in AWS, or my new job has me learning CloudFoundry, learn
Docker/CoreOS/Kubernetes.  Do any of those things and you will be in
demand... Regardless of your age.
