It's actually become a non-issue in recent years. Either:
A) They provide a driver (Canon, Epson, HP)
B) They implement postscript as a standard
C) They provide a postscript compatibility script
D) The open-source community provides a postscript compatibility script
E) The printer follows regular industry standards and CUPS is able to use
it anyway
Honestly, unless you have a printer more than 10 or 15 years old, it
shouldn't be a problem at all.
