elif is what you want to use. Here try this. :)
elif = else if
I added the g=0 because the variable needed to be defined.
Same with guess.
#!/usr/bin/env python
print("Welcome.")
g=0
guess = int(g)
while guess != 5:
g = input("Guess the number: ")
guess = int(g)
if guess < 5:
print("Guess higher.")
elif guess > 5:
print("Guess lower.")
else:
print("Correct.”)
