Configuring printer

I finally got all of my devices on the same network (192.168.0.x) but I
still can't connect to the printer  (an HP Photosmart C7250). The printer
is a wireless device. I have this memory that one needs to configure a
printer with a computer via a wire before you can go wireless with it; is
that so?
