A new reply has been posted to Bug in Bash shell creates big security hole on anything with *nix in it

Grep your user from /etc/password to see what shell you have set up.  Do a
simple "ps" with no arguments to see your current shell's process stack in
case you're doing something funny like launching interactive shells from
.profile.
