chromium, firefox, and konqueror

it is odd. a few days ago chromiom stopped loading pages (it freezes),
so I tried firefox. that too had issues (it won't start) so I tried
konqueror. it loads in basic html but is workable.
I then started konqueror and firefox from a terminal to see if it gave
me any errors. Well, I got no errors from chromium doing that but when
I tried to open firefox it told me:

Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-open.c: 667: _dl_open: Assertion
`_dl_debug_initialize (0, args.nsid)->r_state == RT_CONSISTENT'
failed!

Any ideas about why chromium won't work and how to get it to do so?
