Mint boot problems

OK,

I have moved the USB plugs amongst four of the five USB jacks.

On the last set, on top of the box boot failed on the first power up.

When I did get it up dmesg, as it has in all of the other cases says the 
port is using xhic on the low speed devices of my keyboard and trackball 
mouse.

Puzzling.

The original set of ports I used on the back have black inserts in the 
center of them, as do the ports on the top. I was told black was 20, 
blue 3.0

I am thinking that since this is intermittent that I will plug into a 
set of the blue centered ports and test them for a while.

That will give me some time for research based on the information you 
guys have given me.

  If that fails, I will go to KDE, and if that does not do it, I will 
load Centos 6.
