Interesting review. I'm not sure I am ready to spend $50 a month for hosting. I spend $25 for the HG reseller account..... what is a bad haircut worth?
I'm toying with the idea of dusting off and old box and making it a lamp server for now, since I already have a cox business account that allows servers.
I was hoping to spend more time blogging and less time teching.....
Thank you for all your input!!

yes, they aren't the cheapest... but I like that I can email support and have a email back in under 10 minutes. I hate when things are crashing, and I am waiting hours for support to respond. I recently migrated from an old legacy machine to their new VPSs, and it has noticeably faster load times, fwiw. If you'd like a trial on my VPS, we can work something out.

Thanks Eric!! I assume it is an overloaded server also. I looked at the VPS' at Liquidweb. Prices sure have changed.

yes. While plugins can slow down the server, I'd bet money on it being an overloaded server. If you can move to a VPS, its probably for the better. I personally use Liquidweb (top notch support).

Thanks for your feedback Eric!
New site with very few visitors. On HostGator reseller account. I have a number of sites, mostly parked domains, so I utilize a reseller account.
In researching I found others had the same experience with WordPress websites - most said HG would blame it on plugins. I have 6 plugins. HG said it was the all-in-one-seo plugin that was slowing my website.
The interesting thing is the same exact setup runs just fine on my local LAMP dev server.
I think the problem is too many hosts per server or and imbalance of sites taking up a lot of resources.

WP Super Cache can help for static pages. It is not solving your slowness problem though. It just reduces the number of CPU cycles your blog requires.
How many plugins do you have? How many visitors do you receive? Are you on a shared plan?

Any thoughts?
Thanks!!
