Thanks Sean, Hans, James, and everyone.

Actually, years ago I created a script named 'v' (code below) that
does more. However, gwenview threw me a curveball with all the error
messages that it generates.

I type: v filename.jpg <E> or just: v <E>

Here's my script:

# v -- open named image

cls;ls -ltr | tail -10;echo

if [ $# -gt 0 ]; then FILE=$1; else echo "Open what htm file? "
read file; FILE=$file; fi

nohup gwenview $FILE >/dev/null 2>&1 &

Now, I just need to have the script to automagically close terminal.
