Sounds like the box is configured to output the display to the serial port.
You can setup a terminal on comX with the standard n/81/ and see anything
there.
You should get something on the monitor, at least the BIOS screen after a
cold boot. If you have no video at all, there is more than one then wrong I
would guess.
The f1.f6 is a good idea.
