How to change a machine name?

How you make it survive a reboot is on distro-dependent. On centos, you
change /etc/sysconfig/network and set hostname with hostname. Verify with
a reboot. Sometimes need to edit /etc/hosts. On solaris you set
/etc/hostname and run hostname. Test with reboot.
