so then (my cables are stripe, solid) the proper way to do it is:

  stripe orange,orange
  stripe green,blue
  stripe blue,green
  stripe brown,brown

I was taught,

  blue, stripe blue
  green, stripe orange
  orange, stripe green
  brown, stripe brown
