I like the article.  I did notice it said you'll need a router.  That's 
just to keep things simple.  Of course you can use the linux box as a 
router.  I know a guy who did this.  He used the linux box as a router, 
firewall, and http, pop, smtp, ftp servers.  He had a domain registered 
in his name and hosted it on the box.  Since he had his own mail 
servers, he could set spam filters just like he wanted them.

I've got an old linux box I have kubuntu on and I use it to store 
various movies and tv shows.  It's easier to connect to it and watch 
what I want  than it is to hunt through a stack of dvds for the show I 
want.  I hardly ever use the monitor I have connected to the linux box.  
I have xdmcp set up on it and connect to it from the other machine that 
has xp and kubuntu on it.  I have them named - Wallace and Ladmo.
