Determine which run level(s) you want it to start on
You will need to use chkconfig. It will be something like chkconfig --level 345 ssh .

How can I get the following command to run automatically
whenever I boot up my Thinkpad?
# /etc/init.d/sshd start <ENTER>
Normally, I have to su to root, and then run the command.
