Doubtful.  I'd try Mint 12 first, myself.

If you want to try KDE as a solution, you don't need to re-install
anything.  Go to a prompt and type:

sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

Let it load, restart, next time you login pick KDE or Kubuntu
(whichever it lists it as) and presto, done.

Mint will have an updated kernel though over Ubuntu Oneiric.
