No argument there, Nathan. I've been on PLUG one year now since I decided
to augment my business doing LAMP programming. So I'm rather green.
I always wanted to run Linux, but I took the "role" of disinterested user.
I decided I would run Linux when it was ready to run for me. I
occasionally tried this or that distro. I remember Knoppix. When Ubuntu
appeared, I started trying it. Eventually a version appeared that
installed effortlessly on my PC. Since then I have more or less had at
least one box that will run Linux.
Part of my Linux desire was to give my three kids exposure to something
different. And my middle child, my 14-year-old Michael, has been the
Ubuntu user for about a year now.
I'm far from a power user. But I sort of know enough to do my LAMP
development as a junior programmer at age 45.
I wish Ubuntu wouldn't fail. It's really sad. But they don't seem ready
to acknowledge that Unity is plain hard to use.
