Hiya,
Editing PDF:
OpenOffice.org prolly ain't the solution.
Here's an excerpted display of .pdf created in MS Office (by Maricopa County Public Records)
"Non_Comm_PRR Form.pdf"
downloaded from maricopa.gov and opened with OpenOffice.org Writer 2.3.0 Build 2.3.0.1.2

This mess seems to me to be the result of Microsoft's legal problems with "Office Open" XML.
They lost a patent suit brought by a business partner i4i regarding embedding XML
in Microsoft Word, Excel, and all the other crap Maricopa County uses.
As of last month, Microsoft must remove the stolen software from all their products.
I think there will be broken Word documents for years to come, as docx format was the default.
What about .pdf?
The above looks to me like broken external links abound too.
KPDF, KGhostView, and Krita open, display, and print it with no problems. But they don't edit.
I've used OpenOffice.org before for opening/creating pdf files with no problems, but then,
I've never included (or embedded) any hyperlinks...
OO.org > File > Open > any_local.pdf
Used to work just fine. Now it sucks.
