Why doesn't hardware detection find my printer?

Inadvertently sent the subject message before I was finished.
Here's the rest:

BIOS shows these options & selections:
Parallel Port
(*) 378/IRQ7
( ) 278/IRQ5
( ) 3BC/IRQ7

Parallel Port Mode:
(*) SPP
( ) EPP
( ) ECP
( ) ECP+EPP

x ECP Mode use DMA ... 3
  CIR Port address ... Disabled
x CIR Port IRQ ....... 11

Don't know what those last 3 are.
They may not be relevant.





What else can I try?
