Hmmmmm...
Now I wonder why:

Because:
root at beechjet:~# cat /etc/issue
Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS \n \l 

root at beechjet:~# apt-get install konversation
...
Get:1 http://.../ubuntu/ lucid/main konversation 1.2.3-1ubuntu2 [2,450kB]
... 

There is something fishy somewhere... 

Have you tried:
apt-get update && apt-get -y dist-upgrade 

If not, be careful with it...   :)
