Bash shell scripting class at MCC

One of those other classes that use GNU/Linux classes at Mesa
Community College is ELE181, which covers the very basics of C
programming for those with little or no prior programming experience.
We use Fedora and KDevelop in this course.

Another one is ELE241, where we program PIC microcontrollers in C.  We
also use Fedora in this class, but the compiler/IDE we use is
Microchip MPLAB which is a 'Doze program that we run under Wine.
