Network Manager & Keyring

I've found network manager, knet attach, wifi radar to just cause issues
consistently.... for me two apps that are both ncurses but one is
guified do great... the later runs wired and wifi likety split.

Wicd

You have to dump all your network values except for /etc/resolv.conf and
 in Wicd's case just let it take over. I've run months with the later
and an occasional thunderstorm will drop the power from the house, but
as long as I have power in my laptop and can get a signal I'm good.
