I am sending a Cc of this message to the "PLUG-Discuss" mailing list --
since some of you might be readers of that, but not of "Ubuntu-us-az".

Great!
What I do not know about Ubuntu would fill a book.
(or, maybe a HD).
My laptop (bought used at Red 7) came with Ubuntu.
(6.06 LTS).
Then, in mid 2008 I attended an AZ Loco install fest, and they helped me
install Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (and update firmware on a wifi card).
Now lately, I have had a problem booting -- I think it might be some issue
with grub (or is it lilo?)
When it comes up, it has a little picture of a padlock (like, if someone put
some password protection on the bootup, and it expects me to unlock it?)
I do not know what to do then.
Maybe someone (perhaps MatthewMPP?) can give me some help and/or advice at
the W. side meeting tonight (Wed. March 25, 2009);
...bring along some knowledge (and maybe a rescue CD?) that could help.
THANK YOU,
--
