Kmail or Evolution?

I use kmail, mostly because it's really customizable. And the main
feature of evolution, the ability to get mail from an MS Exchance
box, doesn't seem to work with newer versions of that MS server.
I've looked at the raw files that kmail writes out when you use
mbox. Those files are mbox files, and should be usable by anything
else that uses mbox. What did you try, and how did it fail? Note
that using mdir should be even easier; I'm using mbox because of
tradition and inertia. Also, in some distros, kmail stores its
mail files in ~/.kde/share/junk/123072/kmail/ instead of ~/Mail/ for
some bizarre reason.
