Samba share and file attributes

Ah, you bring up the rest of the story.

All interaction with the share is by MSWindows users.  However,
authentication to the share is by Linux user credentials for the
server providing the share.  For example:

- I am logged into my Windows XP computer via ADS authentication on a
Windows domain.
-- The MSWindows Domain Controller is an MSWindows server, not a Linux server.
- Now, using Windows Explorer I navigate to \\LinuxServer\Master.
- A dialog pops up asking for my Linux server user ID and password.
- I can now navigate the Master share.
- I can create, delete, modify files and directories.
- I cannot set attributes.  i.e. the command line "attrib +r
thisfile.txt" command fails with "Access denied."

Neither?  Both?  The Linux Samba server is part of the Workgroup but
not connected to the Domain, if that makes sense.
