Samba share and file attributes

Thanks for the thoughts, Stephen.
If Samba cannot do what is needed, it will be a disappointment indeed.
Before we take the routes you suggest, we'll probably just move the
tree directly to a Windows server and be done with the mess.
Anyone have other ideas?
