I am no lover of COX (even before I lost my job) but I tend too agree with
Mark. If 'downstairs' is underground that is a big reason. If possible put
the router in the center of your house or next tp a window. To accomplish
this You might have to have cat5 running around your house; or else you
could run a cat5 outlet. Go on craigslist to find someone to do that for
you. I charge 65 for a wallfish but I do everything that is asked of me. You
could post a help wanted ad and tell what you are willing to pay. If someone
comes and says that it can not be done tell them to fish the line through
the hole in the floor that the electrical conduit is going through.
