Very thoughtful and well written post Hans.

We could all benefit by just responding to any clearly off-topic
issues, including flame wars, by simply responding to the first hint
of such a situation by just replying with a post at both the top and
the bottom with this excellent phrase that Hans has supplied:

"Don't feed the trolls." ... ... and leave it at that.
