Hello again,
Sorry I didn't respond any sooner to the replies to my questions, my cpu fan and hard drive quit on me, but I am back up and running again.
I researched the modules and found a "nvidiaram" module in /proc/drivers I didn't find any module in /proc/modules . Another module I found is the "nvidiabf.ko" which is buried in linux:"/lib/modules/2.6.22.17-0.1-default/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia"
I am not sure which one to remove or if I have to remove both in order to install the Nvidia driver from Nvidia.
When I look at the HowTo on their website there are 2 different versions of SUSE10.3, on is an IA32 the other is an AMD64, yet both modules at the end of each section the river is the same, so I guess it really doesn't matter.
Another problem I have is that my mouse pointer is not visible, yet the mouse works just fine, I have to click on the desktop and guess where to place the cursor cumbersome, but it does work though I sure would like to have that cursor visible.I tried editing the congif file for the server, but that didn't do the trick either.
The system I have is a 64 bit one with a 2.8ghz Intel chip and plenty of ram. The video card is a Nvidia GEForce6800 GS. The chipset is of the Intel 975 variety and OpenSUSE10.3 is installed as a 64 bit O/S obtained from a very recent download.
Thanks for the help.
FrankM
