Tis a debate found all over the internet: Do we set the email list
reply-to the list or to the originator?

Our last significant discussion of the issue was in Nov, 2005:

Our list is set to reply to the whole list to encourage more "on list"
discussion.  If we set it the other way, technically the "right" way,
there will be complaints from the other side.  There is no "win-win"
without a change to the list server software to allow each user to set
it the way they want.

If you and others want to discuss it, keep it civil and that's fine with
me.  I don't think it will end with all sides happy because there is no
compromise position without one or the other needing to accommodate the
other way.
