Perhaps I missed something back when all the hoopla was happening
about the monitoring that was going on. But I could have sworn that
what came out was that not only were phones being actively watched,
but also the data lines in and out of the country. My understanding of
how the internet is setup currently, they would only have to sit on a
few datacenters across the country and they would be able to listen
and monitor all communcation that wasn't locked down by cryptography
(and even then you never know they maybe able to as well.. Not like
they would willing tell us if they could). So is there any real way to
avoid monitoring short of just unplugging yourself from the world?

Sorry to continue to take this conversation OT, although I do know
that some of the ways to protect yourself from being monitored involve
moving to linux controlled setups with heavy encryption (or atleast I
understand it to be that way).

Sincerely,
Judd Pickell
