KDE 4 and Kubuntu?

   Im not knocking them personally.  I find it commendable that they plainly
state their return policy, which unfortunately many vendors like them do
not.

   There are some 'macro' problems with these kind of vendors which makes it
very hard for them to compete against the likes of Dell, etc.  For circuit
boards, the actual physical unit is a small fraction of the total cost of
'value' to the consumer (youve got R&D, support, etc.).  So the
manufacturers have deals with the big guys where there is not so much of a
direct cost per unit for the various devices that go into ie. a laptop.  So
this makes a full return policy feasible, there are few costs to Dell to
have the unit shipped back (the LCD screens do have a significant cost
however).  For small vendors, especially Linux vendors, the hardware deals
are scarcely better than what you get at NewEgg, so refunding becomes a
costly procedure, hence %15 'restocking fee'.  Until the hardware markets
become better developed and more friendly to alternative OSes, this class of
vendors will not be able to compete with likes of Dell.  Things are moving,
mind you... so you only have good things to look forward to, but for now
companies like Zareason do not operate on the same cost parameters that Dell
does.
