PlaneShift on Ultimate Ubuntu

Just a WAG, but does it need to be installed by root?
If the app needs certain OS services it must have root level to do it.

I am still learning this stuff, but look into it.

I installed PlaneShift a couple of times on my Ubuntu gnome desktop into
several different directories but when I try to run it it says
permission denied does anyone know how to fix this?  Does anyone play
PlaneShift?  Thanks
