MythTV kernel help

I'm trying to get my MythTV setup and I am running into some issues. It 
seems like the new Hauppauge cards (HVR-1800) need the 2.6.26 kernel to 
work properly. I installed Mythbuntu 8.04 and would like to stay with 
it, but they are stuck with 2.6.24-19 kernel. I know how to build code 
but I only like code that is installed with a package manager.

So, my question is: Is there an easy way for me to add the repo for 
Intrepid so I can grab only the kernel and drivers from that release 
without affecting the other apps and libraries?
