sed help

Actaully no, it doesn't have to be sed. I was just under the impression that sed
would be the tool to use for this (I wanted to do shell scripting not python or
perl). Thank you all for your fantastic help. This isn't for a job/school or
anything just a little puzzle I thought of when I was running one day. I kinda
generated it to help me learn more.
