ubuntu updates

oh yeah, i downloaded (on dial up :( ) the updates, all 127 of them, but 
did not install them because it said
'not authenticated warning warning will robinson this could damage or do 
something yucky and malicious to your system if you install it'

so i didn't .
should i ignore that warning and install them anyway?
