Hans, (I) use "Acronis True Image Home"   It is NOT linux based. It is a 
WinXP product BUT  I boot from its disk into the Acronis OS/Environment 
and create images on a NAS device.  Works great. It will also allow you 
to restore individual files too.

(I) have not found a linux based app that was easy to use and setup AND 
could recreate a drive in minutes like Acronis.   IF you do....
